INNESS Member, Kate Urcioli, will be hosting a Ukrainian Pysanky egg dyeing and decorating workshop in the Farmhouse and 100% of the proceeds for this event will go towards providing meals to Ukrainian communities in need through the World Central Kitchen.

Ukrainian Pysanky involves drawing on an egg with a special tool, using fire and wax, dipping the egg into multiple dyes, and building up patterns and layers. The word pysanka is derived from the Ukrainian verb pysaty ‘to write’; we ‘write’ designs on the eggsA special tool called a kistka is used to melt the beeswax and write on the eggs. The kistka is the pen and the beeswax is the ink. Each successive color is waxed and dyed until the entire design is created on the surface of the egg. The wax is then removed, and your masterpiece is revealed!

Each participant will be guided through the process, receiving a half a dozen eggs to work with, and their own kitska and beeswax to take home for continued practice. This activity is quite detail-oriented and geared towards ages 16+. RSVP is required. All of the proceeds from this event will be going to charity, therefore we will not be providing refunds for any cancellations. Please note that all guests must park their cars in the main lot at the top of the hill, near the restaurant and venture down by foot or shuttle.
