Join us in the Farmhouse Kitchen for a wine tasting and discussion featuring whites from across the Loire Valley. Light snacks will be served. Ages 21+.

The Loire Valley's diverse terroir, influenced by the Loire River and its tributaries, contributes to the varied styles of white wines produced in the region. This area of France is renowned for producing high-quality white wines, characterized by their freshness, acidity, and diversity of styles. The region's climate and diverse terroirs contribute to the unique characteristics of the wines produced.

As we embark on the tasting, we'll explore some of the prominent white wine varieties originating from the Loire Valley and their rich history. Whether you're interested in crisp Sauvignon Blanc, expressive Chenin Blanc, or other unique varieties, the Loire Valley has a lot to offer to white wine enthusiasts!

Sancerre:
Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc predominantly.
Taste Profile: Crisp, dry, and often characterized by vibrant acidity and sometimes mineral undertones

Pouilly-Fumé:
Grape Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Taste Profile: Similar to Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé wines are known for their crisp acidity, but they may have a distinctive smoky or flinty note ("fumé" refers to the smoky character)

Dry Vouvray:
Grape Variety: Chenin Blanc
Taste Profile: Dry Vouvray wines are often rich and full-bodied with flavors of honey, quince, and floral notes

Muscadet:
Grape Variety: Melon de Bourgogne.
Taste Profile: Muscadet wines are known for their crisp acidity and a light, refreshing quality. They often have a subtle saline character due to the region's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean

More about the Host: Carlos Navarro, owner of Palate Wines and Spirits in Newburgh, was born in the Pyrenees, half way between France and Spain. He has extensive international experience working with the European Union and the United Nations before settling down in NYC. In 2020, he decided to pursue his passion for wine, which runs in his family, and relocated to Upstate NY to open a boutique wine shop. Carlos spends time indulging in, and educating himself on, wine history and curation.

Participants are encouraged to arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to make their way down to the Farmhouse from the main parking area. All cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance in order to qualify for a refund. We are unable to make exceptions, as it would be difficult for us to fill those vacant seats with such short notice. This event is not open to the general public. Please leave your pups at home!

Please contact Marcy at membership@inness.co if you have any questions.
