Upstate ARTchery is an art-based youth archery program that offers a unique blend of archery, art making and role playing! Please note that this is a 4-week series taking place on June 16th, June 23rd, June 30th and July 7th.
First, participants will create a “Ranger” alter-ego, then craft a cardboard “Ranger sword” and decorate a bandanna with their Ranger name on it. After a lesson on “sword etiquette”, they practice taking on robot monsters in a sword training course. Once they've completed sword training, all participants are taught the basics of shooting a traditional bow. They'll use specialized tools and art materials to create robot monsters out of cardboard - which they then use as interactive 3-D targets!
Ages 6 to 15. No previous experience required, however children must be old enough to follow explicit safety instructions. All materials and equipment provided. Closed toe footwear is required and a full water bottle is recommended.
Everyone will meet at the top of the hill at 4:45pm and walk down to the archery field/tent area as a group. Class will last approximately 1.5 hours, then we'll head back up the hill to meet parents/caregivers by 6:45pm.
This class requires a 4-week commitment and all cancellations must be made at least 48 hours of the first class. Partial refunds will not be provided for missed classes.
